Danzig to United States

Danzig
was a political fallout of World War I.
It was established in 1920 under the protection of the League of Nations
and was swallowed up by Hitler's Germany in 1939.
ZOPPOT (now
Sopot) was a resort on the Gulf of Danzig.*
The stamp is a 35 pfennig ultramarine from 1925
(Scott 183).
The addressee in Middlebury, Vermont, (a college town) was at the Tea
Time Tavern.
