Gabon to France
November 21, 1927
I can remember Libreville just like
it was yesterday! You bet!
Libreville is on the Atlantic coast of Africa just 23' north of the
equator.
There are three Libreville CDS.
The stamp is a 1927 overprint of French Equatorial Africa
and surcharge of 1.5f on a 1f light blue and dark blue (Scott 116).
There is also a registry label.
The postage rate to France was 50c for a letter weighing 0-20g from 9
August 1926 to 1937.
Registration was 1 franc from 1 May 1926 to 17 July 1932.*
*Our thanks to Paul Barsdell for the rate data on this cover.
