Today in Postal History
Bahamas to United States
November 18, 1896
This is an interesting commercial cover cancelled
in
Nassau on New Providence Island.
The sender is with the US Consulate in Nassau.
Note that there is a stamp from the Bahamas
(2½d
dull blue Multiple Crown CA from 1888 - SG 50)
and one from the United States (2c Type I Triangle double line
watermark - Scott 265).
The Bahamian stamp paid for passage to the US and the US stamp paid for
delivery in the US.
Three strikes of the Nassau CDS were used to
cancel
the two stamps.
