Malta to Greece
November 13, 1913
This cover arrived in Athens before it left Malta!
Thanks to the differences between the Julian
and Gregorian calendars, it was
cancelled in Malta on the 13th only to arrive in Athens on the 6th.
This calendar trick was an interesting 'time machine.'
The five stamps are 1904 Edward VII green
halfpennies
(SG 47, Scott 30) making the 2½d UPU international rate.
The cover was cancelled with double circle
Valletta date stamps.
Its arrival in Athens was marked by a roller cancel.
