Today in Postal History
This cover was mailed from Göteborg
on the southwest coast of Sweden
across the Kattegat from Denmark.
There are three Göteborg CDS.
The franking prepaid the postage and therefore was marked with the red
P.D.
The cover has added backstsamps from Sweden and Germany.
I believe the boxed FRANCO (paid) was applied while in the German
postal
system.
The cover arrived in London on September 16.
Its arrival was noted by the red paid London CDS dated September 16.
The cover is franked with stamps from the 1858 coat of arms
issue.
There is a single 5 ö green and two 30 ö brown (Scott 6 and
11).
