Today in Postal History
Hong Kong to United States
April 27, 1906
This nice cover was postmarked with a
double circle CDS in Victoria, Hong Kong, on its way to the United
States.
It is franked with a 10c. purple and blue on blue paper
King Edward VII from 1905 (SG 81).
(The Crown Agents surely had fun with the chalk-covered and colored
papers in this era.)
The sender stamped it with an oval cachet identifying
his firm.
There is a Chinese address as well as English.
Upon its arrival in San Francisco it was forwarded to
Oakland across the bay to the new address of the recipient.
