United States Domestic Usage
February 29, 186x

This small cover was sent from New Haven, Connecticut, to Guilford, Connecticut.

There is no evidence to establish a year date;
however, it most certainly was sent in the 1860s, probably before 1868.

New Haven is a harbor city on Long Island Sound.
New Haven is probably most famous today as the home of Yale University.
Guilford is a small town about 15 miles east.

The cover is franked with an 1861 3¢ Washington (Scott 65).
The cancellation is a duplex CDS with a target killer.

The cover is imprinted with a badge of the Knights of Pythias Yale.
Such fraternal organizations were active in mid 19th century.
