Today in Postal History
Danish West Indies to France
February 4, 1886
This cover was mailed in St. Thomas and destined
for Angers about
80km
east northeast of Nantes.*
There is a receiver mark dated February 22.
The envelope is a 3c embossed envelope.
It is uprated by the 7c lilac and orange of 1874 (Scott 9).
This is another one of the family of stamps that can
have an inverted frame but this scan isn't good enough to tell.
*Thanks to Jim W-S for unscrambling the
destination for me.
